During my expedition from Alaska to Georgia, I had the opportunity to explore many parts of Colorado. On one particular day, I set out on a hike with the goal of observing Colorado’s wildlife from a safe and respectful distance. Nearing the end of the trail and catching my breath from the steep climb, I looked up to find a wild mountain goat staring directly at me. Aware of the animal’s territorial nature and not wanting to provoke any conflict, I quickly positioned my camera to capture the moment before calmly turning around and heading back the way I had come.
